Our ongoing initiatives
We work at different levels to strengthen sustainable food systems and local development. Sometimes we act strategically to support local actors, sometimes as facilitators in collaborations and projects. In some cases we take a more active role where we ourselves drive initiatives and test new solutions. Here you can read about our ongoing projects!
Ulleråker Farm
On the farm we run a café and a restaurant with the best seasonal local produce, as well as a small-scale vegetable production. It is a place for learning and collaboration.
Through training, workshops and pop-up events, we explore sustainable food solutions and strengthen the resilience of our local food system.

Viable Cities
Together with Uppsala Municipality, we are developing scalable models for the distribution and marketing of local vegetables.
The pilot in Ulleråker Gård will be a test bed to spread the concept to more city districts and municipalities.

Part-time farmer
The “Part-time Farmer” project creates new opportunities for people to engage in local and sustainable food production in a way that is accessible and inclusive.
By offering part-time farming supported by training and centralized logistics, more groups can participate, including those who would otherwise face financial or time barriers.

Food democracy
We plan to organize a conference at the farm where citizens, researchers, producers, politicians and other stakeholders will discuss how we can together reach 1,000,000 sustainable, healthy and tasty meals per day.

A unifying force for sustainable food in Uppsala
By connecting actors within the food system, we aim to act as a driving force for sustainable food projects, inspire collaboration and support existing initiatives for sustainable food. Uppsala Food Council is also a think tank and lobbyist for sustainable food policy in Uppsala Municipality.
Do you want to influence Uppsala's food system?
As a member of Uppsala Food Council, you are driving change! We bring together growers, researchers, food lovers and decision-makers to work together for a more sustainable and fair food policy. By becoming a member, you get a voice in local food policy – and a chance to help shape the food system of the future.
